WHY IS THE BANK OF AMERICA CHICAGO MARATHON A SPECIAL RACE FOR YOU?
The city of Chicago and running are both very special to me. It is because of these two things, that I am where I am today. I lived in Chicago for a year prior to moving to Atlanta to begin Chiropractic school. While living there I was training for my first marathon, and began experiencing some low back pain while running. I began to see a Chiropractor to help manage the pain, and along with alleviating my symptoms, he educated me on the power of Chiropractic and introduced me to the profession of my dreams.

WHAT MADE YOU SIGN UP TO RUN THE 26.2 MILE CHICAGO MARATHON?
I have done several marathons and other endurance type events, but none compare to the energy at the Chicago marathon. The fans, the competitors, and the city truly make for an unbelievable experience. A more important reason that I am running for a second year is so I can help support Team NPCO. This organization is truly one that exemplifies the motto, "To Do, To Serve, and To Love," and I am honored to be a part of it.

HOW HAVE YOU CHANGED YOUR TRAINING AND MENTALITY COMING INTO THE CHICAGO MARATHON THIS YEAR COMPARED TO LAST YEAR?
My training is more focused this year on reaching my goal time. What motivates me in my training is remembering the cause that I am running for!

WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE PART ABOUT LAST YEAR'S RACE?
My favorite part of last year's race was the support from the team before, during, and after the race. The support was continuous and it made the entire experience that much better!

ARE YOU RUNNING FOR A CAUSE OR IN HONOR OF SOMEONE?
I am running in honor of Life University's Class of 2010.

DO YOU HAVE ANY INSPIRATIONAL STORIES TO SHARE?
On any given day, especially race day, all preparations can evaporate into cramping, rainy, windy, nauseous, painful misery. Despite this we have the opportunity to rise above that pain and deliver our best. My last two marathons have been examples of what I just described. I want another, good or bad. But, let's hope for good!

DO YOU HAVE ANY WORDS OF ADVICE FOR FIRST-TIME MARATHON RUNNERS?
Never give up!

WHAT IS ON YOUR IPOD WHEN YOU ARE TRAINING?
The sounds of nature! I do not use one.

DO YOU HAVE ANY CHIROPRACTIC EXPERIENCES OR STORIES?
I have 3 ½ years worth of memories with individuals that will be my professional peers for the rest of my life. Experiences like taking our first exam, dissecting our first cadaver, failing our first test, trembling hands while delivering our first adjustment, and getting a hug from your first patient while they tell you how you changed their life.

FAVORITE QUOTES:
"Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever" - Lance Armstrong

"I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed." - Michael Jordan
